Our History
City Lights opened in September of 1991 as a small 1000 Sq. Ft operation intended only to be open 3 days a week. Brian Young, the owner, had been retired for 2 years from being Managing Director of a large retail group in London but was in need of some interest and a small shop in a seasonal business sounded ideal. Motivated not by money, but rather just the need to be occupied, the concept of City Lights was created.
In our early days, City Lights was mainly a year round Christmas Store with only two collectible lines, Department 56 and Annalee. As time progressed, and we became more well known, our clientele grew, and with that, so did the product lines. We became a Showcase dealer for Department 56 after our first year, and a "Gold Key" dealer shortly after that. Needless to say, as we continued to grow, so did the man hours needed to keep the business running, and the space to display everything. City Lights is now open 7 days a week, all year long, and has a sales floor of over 28,000 sqft and an additional 10,000 sqft for warehousing.
City Lights is a family run business with Laura, Brian's wife, and Spencer, their son, all working to serve you better. Along with them, there is a full knowledgeable and friendly staff to help you with any questions you may have and assist you in any way possible.
