The Boston Terrier is the first dog breed recognized to have been created in the United States-around 1870 in the breed's namesake town of Boston, Massachusetts. Weighing up to 25 pounds or so, Bostons are sturdy, muscular dogs and strong for their size. But under their tough exterior, Bostons are loving and affectionate-they may bark at strangers at the door, but as soon as they get to know you they won't mind sharing their home with you and will want to be your best friend!
